virtual walk-through
In a circular shape like the market, the glass panels are reminiscent of spokes on a wheel, providing separated areas to take a pause, gather, and just relax. Each panel is comprised of nine glass tiles, featuring etched geometrical patterns found repeated throughout the market, and a reminder that what makes Kalaakar Bazaar unique are the details -- the local artisans and their specialities, integration of crowd spacing through light cues and mobile apps, and an overall structure of concentric circles each providing a different visitor experience.

model time lapse
As a mobile bazaar, the use of the sun as a light source became essential. although generators will supply power to the LED tape that surrounds each glass panel (providing illumination at night), during the day the light installation acts as an abstract sundial, moving and shifting colored reflections as time passes and the sun rotates across the sky. The light installation marks the beginning and the end of the circular market, featuring the light of the sun marking the beginning and the end of the day.

light arch
designed in collaboration with scenic designer: Natalie Ferguson
The pathway adjoining the market stalls is adorned by custom light arches that are strategically spaced to cordon off sections in the market ring.
The colors on the light arches signify the occupancy of the immediate area, using a color system similar to Google Maps. This system is a visual indicator to guide visitors -- to continue walking if the lights are red or to stay and shop if the lights are green. These indicator lights are interspersed with pink and teal lights.

stage lighting
The stage lighting consists of an array of ETC Source Four LED Series 3 fixtures, using 26 degree lens tubes. This versatile coverage allows the stage to be simply illuminated or programmed for a more animated show.
